during the colonial days of indonesia, "rijsttafel", dutch for "rice table", was adapted by the locals as a feast for foreign dignitaries and royalty. it consists of sometimes up to 40 dishes served in small portions so that guests can taste a maximum array of flavours in one seating. unfortunately, this feast is slowly becoming obscure due to its long preparation time
